Davesdrivers is now 5 years old.

a big thank you to everyone i could not keep this site going without your support.
Dang time goes by really fast lol.
tell me about it.

don't seem like 5 years ago i was learning how to build a website or learning how to run this forum software.
I hope the site last another 5 years but with all these so called auto updates programs flooding the net the need for a little site such as this is no longer there.
i keep it going because its my hobby and because of the older members.
it cost me a packet to keep it on the net but i love my site a great deal and put too much work in to it just to walk away.
Well I know I'll be stopping often. Maybe drop a question or two like usual lol. I don't really go anywhere else if I do have an issue.
But yeah I understand how that is, its been up for a while now, hopefully it will keep on going.
I have a few older members such as yourself that refuse to go anywhere else.

some i have known longer then this site has been running
i use to work on a few other sites before i built this i moved and they came right along with me lol lol.
myself and mr biggles have worked together on sites like this for 13 years, ouch thats a long time we might as well be married lol
Yeah, I remember I was like 14 when I first went to a site called driverguide or something when I encountered my first driver issue. That was a long time ago, but yeah I recall you were the one who helped me lol.

That is quite a while.
dam driverguide not done that site in years mate they started to charge plus i could not stand the mod kerry k so i left and went over to driverzone.
thats where i come across mr biggles.
but like so many sites driverzone was sold and it went right down the pan with the new owner's plastering it was ad's and driver update programs e.t.c so i started this site.

old biggles walked out of driverzone long before i did but i just could not let go of all the work we put in to that site and its forum, then the foum got hacked and the new owner's did nothing about it.
its since been sold again.
one of these day's i will get hold of that domain name myself and make it the site it use to be.

the real big kick in the teeth was when i caught driverguide copying the work i done here and used it on their site, they were so thick that they did not even change the image file and it was still linked to my site.

needless to say they got a very nasty letter and a warning about copywrite laws.

this site now has a higher ranking then driverzone and its not too far behind driverguide, the thing it really needs is a php to mysql database thats a bit beyond my programming skills, i am a hardware tech no a programming tech.
Yeah I think I remember when you mentioned that they took some stuff and posted it up as their own site. Thats pretty sad.
Exceuse me Mr Dave, I didn't walk out of DZ; I STORMED out!! Remember my last post? Wish I had taken a copy of so I could post it here. It really was a beauty wasn't it and so sad that all our hard work and time building up DZ (Barry Fanion's included) only to have it destroyed in 6 months.

Driverzone would have been one of the earliest if not the first Driver Site online. The domain name was registered in 1996 and I joined in 1997. Shame Stu doesn't have the time to be on here with us. We had a lot of fun on DZ (not saying that this place ain't fun).
i stand corrected, you STORMED OUT

i do remember parts of that last post, rude to the point but not a swear word in sight.
maybe one day i will get hold of that domain name i do try everytime i see it needs to be renewed.
i think it would mean a great deal to all of us if i can get that domain name.

the best thing about this place is i can say what i like when i like and not have someone telling me otherwise or plug this software or plug that software.
i will only tell members to use software i have used myself and found to be very good.
