xp driver for usb to serial cable HL-340
#1
I purchased this cable on ebay and want to use it on an IBM thinkpad T22 laptop. The cable's marked HL-340 and is a usb to serial cable but I cannot find drivers. Have installed several different usb-ser drivers and none work - always finds new hadware after reboot and I cancel driver search window and try installing again. Where can I find the proper driver? My XP is totally updated.

all those cross over cables work the same way.

do you have a link to where you bought the cable on ebay ?

have you tried to update the driver from device manager and point xp towards the drivers you have downloaded ?
#3
That is the problem - the seller can't provide a link and the drivers he provides don't seem to work. I found a company that looks to be be the manufacturer but they don't have drivers on website (www.szrms.com) and have not answered my email yet. So far I have tried 6 different usb-ser drivers I got off the internet and none work - I am wondering if there is a trick to doing the installation. The windows found hardware ox comes up everytime and searches for the drivers but can never find them no matter what drivers I install. If I choose to select the hardware type there is no choice for the usb-ser cable to select.

unpack the drivers into a folder on your desktop , and try and install them the way i list here for drivers with no setup exe

if windows finds anything it feels will work with that patch cable it will load it up for you.
its also possible that you just have a bad cable.
#5
It must be a bad cable cause I have done all you suggest - Thanks - maybe the manufacturer will get back to me!

ok i have found a driver , you may have tried this one but if you goggle for usb to serial hl-340 you come back with more then one company .

this one is sold amazon
http://www.amazon.com/Keyspan-Speed-Seri...B0000VYJRY
i found the main website of the people that make it and this is the driver listed for that model.
http://www.keyspan.com/downloads/homepag...a19hs.spml

like wise there is another driver listed here.
http://translate.google.com/translate?hl...soft:en-US

what you want to do is unpack all the drivers you have and look at them side by side see if they do differ or if they are all the same driver files

not really much else i can do for you on this apart from find every driver listed on the web and that could end up being one hell of a list.

Yes I already tried those ! - but I have found the original disk that came with the cable and it has the right drivers which are different from the ones the ebayer emailed to me for it ( it was one of those mini disks and I had it stuck between other large disks so I couldn't find it. All your effort is appreciated - I know if they were out there you would have found them. The disks has drivers for 11 HL products if HL ever comes up again I have it.

Clap

Thank you very much!!!

I also bought this cable from ebay. I was unable to install the driver properly using the enclosed cd. I suspect that the files are corrupted on those cds that they send to people....
Google sent me here and now my serial to usb cable works flawlessly.

Again thank you!!!

:thankyou:

if the computer is calling up Nokia DKU 5 then thats what it must be.

does it have a name listed on the usb plug as per the photo at nokia ?
have a read of the install guide found here along with the correct driver.
