HP Pavilion ZV5000 Driver Needed
#1
I'm trying to find a driver for a SM Bus Controller, on a HP Pavilion ZV5000 laptop.
I'm running XP Pro, & can't seem to find it on the HP site.

I think it has a intel chipset, the sm bus controller is part of the main chipset driver set.

click this link download and run this little program from intel.
http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/sb/cs-009245.htm

let me know what that program tells you i should then be able to point you to the correct downloads.

I tried 3 times to run the Intel program you suggested, but kept getting a script error message.

I appreciate your help Dave, but the person that owned the HP laptop, needed it back quickly, & didn't give me time to run the Everest program.
So I gave it back to them as is.
Thanks again!!!

well if they wanted it back not much you can do to help them.
but if you get it back again as i think you might in a few weeks time run everest.

some people try and rush IT staff with computers, which at times is not the best thing to do.

Well I'm working on a different laptop now with the same problem, I did indentify the chipset thru the Intel utility program, & downloaded the appropiate graphics driver.
The chipset is a Intel Calistoga i945GM/PM.
I checked the device manager & now have everything except the SM bus controller.
Couiln't seem to find it on the Dell drivers page, I running XP Pro.

the sm bus is part of tha main inf file from intel.
now just to cover your back you should load the desktop version of the inf file as that will have the sm bus controller you need.

you can grab that driver from here

Okay got this laptop again, I ran everest & it tells me that I have a NVIDIA GeForce4 440 Go 64M.
Just need to clear up the SM bus controller in the Device Manager.

the geforce go 440 is a older chipset and you can get that running with the omega drivers without a problem.

Hi Dave,

Laptop HP Pavilion ZV5000 (PG992LA#ABM)
Windows XP Home Edition Spanish Version

In my case I have the sm bus controller if I install the ATI Graphic Driver
M9/M10/RC300M VGA and select all the components:

[*]AGP Gart Support
[*]ATI Display Driver (Default)
[*]ATI Control Panel
[*]South Bridge/IXP Drivers

I think, I must install an Intel chipset, Please let me know if I am wrong!!! If I must, which one do I have to download?
My Laptop (HP Pavilion ZV5000 PG992LA#ABM) has a CPU Type Intel Pentium 4, 2800 MHz.
trying to run the Intel Chipset Identification Utility I get a script error message, same problem post #3
I do not have the sm bus controller issue, this is a part of the components by ATI Graphic Driver M9/M10/RC300M VGA
[*]AGP Gart Support
[*]ATI Display Driver (Default)
[*]ATI Control Panel
[*]South Bridge/IXP Drivers

Here is where I am lost, If I have a CPU Genuine Intel why the Motherboard Chipset is installed from the Graphic Driver?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide me

Regards
Antonio Macias

rebelscum0000

your laptop is running a ATI chipset and not a intel.

please have a look at this list from HP and load everything listed for the ATI version.

ok thats a older chipset and nvidia is the best bet for that.
http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/nforce_wi...16_uk.html

main geforce driver is listed in the download link i gave above for rebelscum0000

now sometimes the smbus does not auto load with those drivers if that happens don't worry.
just take note of where that main chipset driver is installing to.
it should be something alone the lines of c:nvidia

if it does not load open device manager, right click on the problem.
update driver option, then browse to that folder it will be sitting in there and will load that way.
if you still have problem lets me know and i will do a direct rip of that for you.
