HP Pavilion DV1000 wireless problems
#21
that is still pretty hot, remove the heatsink and fan and clean out the heatsink under a running tap.
give it a good flush out, let it fully dry out then refit it with new paste and see if that helps.

check the fan blades for dust, they are only small and thin, they can be broken if you use to much force.
but they do need cleaning out.
a damp cotton bud will get those blades cleaned off.
the fan is so small that it don't take much for it to kick out less airflow.

Alright, Ill be getting some Arctic Silver 5. What method should I use? I seen alot of methods. Do i use the rice grain method or what do you recommend?

Also do you think my graphics card will benefit from so Arctic Silver 5 too?

as your using Arctic Silver a rice grain may well be too much.

i will give you a tip when applying heatpaste.
the idea is you clean the old stuff off so you can read the top of the chip.
then you use just enough to give a nice thin layer so you can no longer read the top of that intel chip, you can start with half a grain, if its not enough and you can still see the writing on the chip add a little more.

as for your gfx card i don't think it will do much at all.

THEN install the "intel proset for intel prowireless drivers" found in the same hp page under "software solutions". Dont confuse this with the wireless drivers themselves, this one says PROSET the other one doesn't and the other one is in the other category for "driver - network". Install the proset.

THEN go to the "driver network" subcategory and download the very first one, intel prowireless drivers and install it.

Realize that itll install, flash up a black DOS screen and dissappear. its supposed to that doesnt mean its broke hah. RESTART and you should be golden, make sure you push the wirless button if its ot already on.

If this doesnt work, then either you didnt follow my steps with attention to detail, or you have to install the broadcom driver last instead of the intel prowireless.

I just did this after a year of windows being reinstalled and the wireless not working. This. Works. Forget all the other threads that dont go into enough detail.
