I removed the Vista and reload Chinese version of XP SP2. I managed to find drivers for wireless network and video. I have tried many different audio drivers but nothing works on my notebook so far. The sound card, I believe, is Conexant High Definition Audio.

can you let me know the full model number of that toshiba so i can check it up for you.

it will be on a sticker on the base of the laptop .
will say p100 followed by a two letter and some numbers.

are you running xp pro ?

On the label, it reads

well you do have the Conexant High Definition Audio

now this driver listed at toshiba seems to work on most old versions of this laptop so it should work on yours as well.

please make sure you have loaded the following drivers before you load that conexant driver.

I got a popup when I tried to install Intel's files - my computer does not meet the requirement. I think it is because mine is Chinese version of XP and it could not recognixze it.

Installing MS's driver does not have any error or anything. The Conexant driver installer does not seem to find my audio device so there is nothing to install, no error either.

with it running click , motherboard in the left hand list, then motherboard again in the large box.

ok so you do have the intel chipset and the inf file should have installed it may be because you have a Chinese copy of xp but try this this version of the INF file.

the sound listed there is the Conexant Cx20549 so give this driver a try from hp.

intinst_autol installed without problem but conexant cx20549 (sp36090) still reported could not find driver.

did you install the microsoft unversal driver first ? the conexant will not load without that one being installed.

I have fully unpacked the toshiba conexant driver from the past models and upload it to this post in a zip file.
download that zip file, unpack it to a folder on your desktop then try loading the driver from device manager.
