I removed the Vista and reload Chinese version of XP SP2. I managed to find drivers for wireless network and video. I have tried many different audio drivers but nothing works on my notebook so far. The sound card, I believe, is Conexant High Definition Audio.

can you let me know the full model number of that toshiba so i can check it up for you.

it will be on a sticker on the base of the laptop .
will say p100 followed by a two letter and some numbers.

are you running xp pro ?

On the label, it reads
TOSHIBA

well you do have the Conexant High Definition Audio

now this driver listed at toshiba seems to work on most old versions of this laptop so it should work on yours as well.

Thank you very much for providing such detailed information.

I got a popup when I tried to install Intel's files - my computer does not meet the requirement. I think it is because mine is Chinese version of XP and it could not recognixze it.

Installing MS's driver does not have any error or anything. The Conexant driver installer does not seem to find my audio device so there is nothing to install, no error either.

No sigar!

that intel driver should have installed.

install that little program on that laptop.

with it running click , motherboard in the left hand list, then motherboard again in the large box.
post the report back here so i can have a look at it.

ok so you do have the intel chipset and the inf file should have installed it may be because you have a Chinese copy of xp but try this this version of the INF file.

the sound listed there is the Conexant Cx20549 so give this driver a try from hp.

intinst_autol installed without problem but conexant cx20549 (sp36090) still reported could not find driver.

did you install the microsoft unversal driver first ? the conexant will not load without that one being installed.

I have fully unpacked the toshiba conexant driver from the past models and upload it to this post in a zip file.
download that zip file, unpack it to a folder on your desktop then try loading the driver from device manager.

I did not install Microsoft driver because I thought I already did that many times. But I will try again and then install the driver from the folder you have in the zip file.

I installed the driver in the zip but it still won't work. I even applied Windows XP updates (not those security related) and then applied the drivers (several different drivers) and it still won't work.

I am ready to give up the sound Nono

i found a early conexant driver at hp the other day.
give that one a try and see how it goes if need be i will unpack it for you like last time.
one of these drivers should work on that laptop.

Sorry to tell you that the drivers are still not working on my notebook. I like to thank you very much for helping me to get my sound card to work. Even though the problem is not resolved but I really appreciate your efforts.

i think the problem is down to your Chinese version of xp.
i will still keep looking to see if i can find any other drivers that i feel may help.

I know this is a super bump of this thread, but I believe I found a working driver.

I was in this exact same pinch and this worked great.

microsoft have new drivers out for that sound make sure you use windows update to find the newest version.

FINALLY!! I've been trying to get the audio to work on my Toshiba P105 for many, many hours/weeks. The files in Post #10 worked like a charm! The PC was originally loaded with Vista. After the switch to XP, the drivers were a pain in the arse to get working again. Thanks Daves Drivers!

Driver from post 10 worked great for my Benq joybook P51e too.At last its working!Now my wife can watch "House MD" and movies and I'll have to buy myself another laptop:)
