Sony VGN-CR320E Vista>XP Downgrade
#1
Sony Spec sheet: T7250 CPU GM965 Chipset
No drivers load except video

Looked up T7250 on Intel website; Their info specs this processor to a
945GME Chipset, but the only drivers they offer are for the graphics.

Help!!

if your running a intel chipset a little tip for downgrading.

load up the desktop INF file for the 9 series desktop.
it will fool xp to look for the 9 series chipsets mobile or otherwise.

if you look at the products supported on that driver it does cover mobile chips as well.

Hi Dave,

Here's what I know so far;

The Intel 965 Chipset Drivers load: ICH8 Couldn't tell if anything else

The 965 Graphics loads and works

The ethernet contoller is a Realtek RTL8101E and must be forced,
got driver from Realtek Website

I'm now hunting down the WiFi Driver. Spec sheet says;Intel PRO/Wireless 4965AGN

Also looking for "Mass Storage" device. I think its the Card reader

Great Site; Lucky I found you

Thanks, Carl

The "Mass Storage device was a TI Card Reader"PCIxx12 Integrated FlashMedia Controller"; Got the driver from the Lenovo Group Site.

Wireless was at the intel Site PRO/Wireless 4965AGN

yes that ibm driver for the texas Card Reader"PCIxx12 will work up to a point.
if you have a quick skip over the sony post you will see we had problems with that card reader before.
best driver you can get for it come from windows update so if you now have it installed update the driver from device manager while your online and it should download the microsoft driver which works alot better.

if the intel INF file installed the ICH8 drivers it installed all the rest for agp, pci ,support e.t.c

well done on the wifi i would have done the same thing and pointed you to intels site for the driver.

Thanks Dave, I'll do the upgrade on the reader shortly.

My last hurdle was the integrated camera.
Found the driver here;http://www.versiontracker.com/php/dlpage.php?id=137968&db=win&pid=172885&kind=&lnk=ftp%3A%2F%2Fftp.vaio-link.com%2Fpub%2FOS%2FXPDowngrade%2FBX4%2FDrivers%2F12_Camera.zip

Had to run the install twice but its working ok.

Installs MS "Movie Maker" Seems somewhat rudimentary, but it works.

Thanks again for all the help

Spoke too soon!

Some of the launch buttons above the KB don't work.

Specifically; Capture ; AV Mode

Sound-on/off & Display on/off ; Work

Do you know if these are soft keys or are they controlled by a Sony program?

Thanks,
Carl

they are controlled by a sony driver.

use the full product model number as printed on the base sticker of your laptop and enter it at sony.
http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stor...tomer_Care

look for your model.
call it up and download the full original driver package.
unpack that lot and you should see the hotkey/ quick key program , driver listed.
then use device manager to update as much as you can.
i can't say your get them all working as the driver will be for vista but you should be able to get some of it working.

the big problem is going to be sony wrighting into the INF file the model number range and windows version, your only real hope is the vista driver and device manager.
