indian call center claiming that the records show my pc has more then one red error ( news to me )
i let this guy talk on blah blah, then he wanted remote access to my pc, thats when i started to question him.
like how do you know my pc has problems ?
" our records show from the online scan you have problems "

ok what " online scan ? "

that was a very simple question to answer ?
think again he had no answer to that one.

then i shoved in oh what O/S are you talking about i have 6 machines here.

windows xp ? ( good guess )
i said oh that machine thats not on the net are you sure you don't mean linux on my main machine.
at this point i could hear the blind panic in the background.

oh yes sir sorry in a very worried voice.
ok whats the " dos lines for linux "

he gave me the windows dos lines lol

at that point i bust out laughing and said oh mate you have no idea who you are talking to or what the bloody hell your doing.
phone went dead lol lol

be warned if you get a cold call out the blue from these arseholes its a con, does not matter what the company is called its a scam
they want to remote in to your pc and load it up with god knows what and then steal your c/card details.
never ever give anyone remote access to your pc unless you phoned a company support line such as dell or hp

And it detects the device as a network card. But when i try to connect to a network only the wired connection and the hamachi connection shows at the right corner of the screen.

On PC 2 (another PC), i don't installed the drivers from the cd. The pc downloaded the working drivers for the network card from Windows update and called it: "realtek rtl8188cu wireless lan 802.11n usb 2.0 network adapter". I tried to connect to a network and it worked. After enabling windows update driver downloads and making a complete update, windows update downloaded the same drivers as on PC 2. And still the same problem. I also tried to install the cd drivers from the device manager. I have tried downloading xirrus wifi manager. It detects the device but dont finds any networks. the access point is 1 meter away from the network card.
If more information just ask.

hi davey! while waiting on my friends feedback on the other thread to update you.. i would like to ask you about what i am countering right now with my old pentium 4 computer.

It is XP SP3, I have problem specially when you used right click on a certain program. one is, if you want to use or run a certain problem as administrator, after right clicking the program then properties, then compatibility and there's no run as administrator. on the compatibility mode, you can only choose on the following.. windows 95, windows 98/ME, windows NT 4.0 SP5 and windows 2000 only.

2nd, once you inserted a dvd rom and you like to see the files on it, after right clicking on it, there's no "open" on it. i only use search then *.* so i can see all the file on the dvd.

Is there anything i can do to bring this back to normal?

Hey there! I've been browsing your forums, hoping to find a correct driver for this God-forsaken adapter. The device worked a couple of weeks ago on a machine with almost identical specs (including Win7 Ult 64), but I got the driver for it years ago and it would only work in one USB slot -- if I moved it around at all in that pc, it wouldn't pick up the driver.

Anyway, I've tried all the downloads from the different EDUP threads and nothing has worked so far. Windows version and device id:

Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
Any help would be much appreciated.

Just recently, liek the past week my internet has been pretty slow. I could mostly see it when I gamed online. It makes it nearly unplayable. I waited a week to be sure if it was my ISP. But then I tested a laptop on my connection and it works fine.

What my issue is, is that its dropping data packets randomly.
My connection speed is normal but when I would ping test it wasn't testable.

Hi All,

I bought a webcam identical to the picture in the link http://www.taiwantrade.com.tw/coretac/pr...USB_WEBCAM

Unfortunately, it is not recognized either by XP SP2 or Windows 7.
I've already tried to change USB port and switch off antivirus/firewall during online update/search.

On the chip is written ARK3299FPFC1033. The ID in the device manager is

USB\VID_18EC&PID_3299&MI_00\6&263CFFD0&0&0000.

Is there anything else I can try?
Thank you in advance.

Hello Dave. You seem like a prodigy with computers so I decided to ask a question about my sound.

I recently downgraded my computer from Vista to XP Professional Service Pack 2 because it's just faster for me and I found another thread around this site with Google about going about reinstalling drivers for my computer.

I have an HP Pavilion dv9925nr. So many problems with this laptop hah.

Anyway, everything was going well until the audio drivers came up. I know I have a Conexant Audio due to remembrance from using the computer before. Any driver I try to install for it, the computer just keeps saying that it cannot find the Media device for the driver.

I'm stuck and I can't figure this out. I would love your help with this issue.
